# Aradia and the Digital Employee — Own It, Don't Rent It

**Quick Facts.** The consensus term for AI that does a whole job is *digital employee*, and 2027 is the year it hits org charts. Gartner (June 25, 2025): 15% of day-to-day work decisions autonomous by 2028 — and 40% of agentic-AI projects canceled by end of 2027. The gap is explained by one word: ownership.

The vocabulary has settled. Salesforce defines a digital worker — "also known as a digital employee" — as software that handles complex work end to end. Analyst firms publish workforce forecasts on it. What nobody asks: who owns the employee? Nearly everyone hires them the same way — rented from someone else's datacenter, metered per seat, forever.

## What the Forecasts Actually Say

A rented digital employee lives on someone else's compute, speaks through someone else's endpoint, and writes its logs somewhere you may never see. You remain answerable for everything it says (see: Air Canada), with none of the ownership. Gartner's own press release carries both numbers in one breath: 15% of work decisions autonomous by 2028, 40% of agentic projects canceled by 2027. The failures are rental failures — agents with no plumbing, no budget owner, no end date.

## The Remedy Is Ownership, Not Subscription

**// The rented posture:**
+ Per-seat rent forever; every price change lands on your invoice
+ Shared endpoints, hidden sub-processors, zero egress visibility
+ Allotments and pricing change on vendor whim (see: the Subscription Treadmill)
+ All liability, none of the ownership

**// The Aradia posture:**
+ One CapEx line item, depreciable under IRS Section 179
+ The employee lives in your office — air-gapped default, zero open inbound ports
+ Frozen model versions: audited, reproducible, defensible
+ Fixed monthly SLA replaces the never-ending token meter

You don't rent a digital employee. You own it.

## The Entry Move

Buy the Aradia DGX if your 2027 hiring plan is digital, if your current agents have no address of their own, or if you want an employee rather than an invoice. $15,125 flat, 100% upfront, Section 179 eligible. Payback: turnkey price ÷ monthly cloud spend — 4–9 months (Spark), 7–14 (Station), 6–15 (B200). Then $0 per token, forever. Spark (1–5 users/agents, 128 GB coherent), Station (748 GB), or B200 rack (1,440 GB HBM3e). Managed SLA optional at $1,500/mo. Out-of-SLA engineering $450/hr via Change Order or accredited Partners.
